A little knowledge. A kinder routine.

Your skin type describes its usual oil pattern. Sensitivity and feeling dehydrated can overlap with any type, and your needs can change with the seasons.
Dry skin: comfort first
Dry skin often feels tight, rough or flaky. Choose gentle cleansing and a cream suited to your skin. Apply moisturiser after washing, while skin is slightly damp. Avoid trying to scrub flakes away.
Oily skin: keep it gentle
Oily skin tends to look shiny across much of the face. It still benefits from moisturising. Look for lightweight products labelled oil-free or non-comedogenic, and resist harsh scrubbing.
Combination skin: care by area
An oily forehead, nose and chin with drier cheeks can point to combination skin. Use a lighter touch in shiny areas and extra moisturiser where you feel dry. Your whole face needn’t receive exactly the same amount.
Balanced skin: simple is enough
If your skin usually feels comfortable without much shine or dryness, a simple routine may suit it well. Keep the basics consistent and adjust when weather or your skin changes.
Sensitive skin: a separate consideration
Any skin type can react to products. Stinging or burning is a reason to stop and reassess. Choose fragrance-free options, introduce one product at a time and test a small area according to the product instructions. Natural ingredients can still irritate.
Three essentials, whatever your result
A gentle cleanser, a suitable moisturiser and daytime sun protection are a useful foundation. Choose broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher, follow its reapplication instructions, and use shade and protective clothing too. Mellow’s serum and cream are not sunscreens.
